This fascinating BMW Museum is situated in the town of Weisel -about 15 minutes drive from Lorch on the Rhine. It is a privately owned museum, dedicated solely to BMW Motorbikes. From some of the earliest models down to modern times, over 50 bikes wait to delight the enthusiast.
The museum is the life's work of the BMW fanatic Herr Reinhard Gaede.
This, the largest privately owned BMW Motorbike museum in Germany, is a gem that all who are interested in the history of motor bikes in general and BMW motor bikes in particular should not miss.
Herr Gaede is a seemingly inexhaustble font of knowledge - particularly regarding the technical specifications of the various bikes. Many of these have been lovingly restored by him and all are functional.
Not being a motor bike enthusiast myself there is not much more I can add - I suggest you pop into the museum when on your holiday in the Rhine Valley. Herr Gaede will gladly deal with all your questions.
There is only 1 problem - the museum is only open on the first Sunday in the month (April to October) from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m..
But if you love motor bikes do try to weave a visit into your schedule.
