Interesting Local Artists

The Rhine River Valley has much to offer in the way local artists.

There are I think two good reasons for including a page or two on local artists:

-many (most?) people visiting and exploring a new region enjoy sampling the art of the region as it deepens their appreciationof the area, adding a further element to their holiday          experience.

- it offers the opportunity of finding a delightful momento of the holiday.

Personally I loathe much of what is offered the world over to tourists to take home as mementos of their holiday. Dreadful gilded 6 inch replicas of the Empire State Building - no doubt mass produced in some place far removed from New York -to remind one of a visit to the big apple.

Sadly the Rhine River Valley is no exception . Here you can also buy some characterless plastic replica of the Loreley or some other local attraction.

Whenever we go on holiday we aim to bring back something truly local as a memento of our holiday. If we can find a local artist whose work we like and can afford - there we get our holiday memento.

Something that adorns our house and evokes pleasant memories of our holiday rather than some piece of tourist junk that eventually finds its way into the recesses of a cupboard or more appropriately the rubbish bin.

OK, that's my pitch for local artists so if you're interested in visiting some of our artists let me show you where they are and what you can expect to find.

I'm finding this part of my site great fun and have decided to publish it although at the moment its a bit "thin on the ground" but over the next few months more local artists will be appearing - so come back and have a look in a few weeks - there'll be some interesting surprises for you.!!
